Get to know a4 Advertising’s Vice President of National Advertising, Caitlin Monaghan.

Tell us a little about your work experience and how you made your way to a4 Advertising.

I started in media straight out of college with CBS, now ViacomCBS. My first position there was on a unique team that sold ad campaigns across all of CBS’s properties – TV, digital, outdoor, radio, film, etc. After a few years, I decided to focus on the fastest growing area – CBS Interactive – and sold CBS.com and CBSNews.com. Most memorable time during those years, was being a part of the launch of CBSN and selling in some of our first advertisers on this emerging news platform. With my love of news and wanting to be part of building something from the ground-up, after 6 years, I left CBS and joined Cheddar in its early days. Proudly, was a part of the team that grew Cheddar’s revenue to such success that we sold to Altice in the summer of 2019.

What inspires you in your role as VP of National Advertising?

My inspiration today is that same thing that has inspired me since the beginning of my career, I love digging into brands, what they want to achieve, who their customers, what value do they offer and then as their partner helping to deliver success.

What 3 things do you think makes a4 Advertising different from its competitors?

  • Robust analytics and learnings that leverage deterministic viewership & IP data
  • A unique perspective on the marketplace given our position as an MVPD/ISP.
  • A deep bench of talent and knowledge behind each campaign

What do you see as the biggest trends in the media world in 2022?

Companies that have the funds and resources to do so, will be making big pushes around virtual reality/augmented reality to connect with consumers in the metaverse. I think it’s going to be a turbulent journey since this is just the beginning of this. Like ViacomCBS merger, I think we will see well-known publishers make some big acquisitions like scooping up movie studios.

The conversation around identity and the solving for the cookie-less future is still going to continue….for better or worse.

Tell us a few fun facts about yourself such as your favorite ice cream, film and book.

  • Mint chocolate chip with rainbow sprinkles on a sugar cone is my go-to ice cream order
  • Out of Africa is one of my favorite films
  • As a New Yorker, I love how Amor Towle’s captured the City in his book, “Rules of Civility”
